- 1 package of cream cheese softened and then spread on a plate.
- 1/2 jar of sweet peeper and apple relish spread on top.
- Chill in the refrigerator.
- Serve with crackers or chips.
Preparation
Holiday cream cheese spread the first step when making this dip is soften the cream cheese. After the cream cheese is softened you spread it out neatly on to a plate.
As I walk into the kitchen my mom is yelling " where is the cream cheese spread." " In the refrigerator" I say. People scarring in and out the kitchen like little mice. That is when i can tell that we are interring the holiday season. The weather outside is chilly. We normally have a nice fire going in the family room with the smell of maple wood and the sound of a football game going on. The kitchen is full of people cooking and stuffing their little faces full of food. The dogs are sitting so patiently waiting for a crumb to drop or any hand outs to come. My dad is scarring around outside cooking the meat for the big dinner that we are about to receive.
During the holiday season this is my job in the cooking is making this cream cheese spread. My family has been making this cream cheese spread for longer than I have been alive. But I have been making it since I was only 4 years old.
The next step is to evenly spread the peeper apple relish out on top of the cream cheese.
Then after the relish is spread out evenly on a plate you put it into a refrigerator to get it cold.
During the holiday season we will always have this dip in our refrigerator ready to eat
The last little step is to serve with crackers or chips.
When the spreed is finished every one hovers around it and the plate is cleaned up faster than a hound dog and a bowl of chow. This little appetiser is one of the signature dishes at most of our family dinners.
My family tradition will go on for years and years to come. My kids when they get old enough will take over making the holiday cream cheese spread.
